Applying to Inchicore College of Further Education


STEP 1: You apply online

You apply online through our website. You can apply at any time.

When you complete your application, you will receive an acknowledgement email with login details, username and password, for your new account on our college applications system. You will log into the college applications system regularly to manage your application to ICFE.


STEP 2: We offer you a provisional place* on the course

(* This offer is subject to you satisfying the entry requirements for the course.)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Information on entry requirements for each course is available in the courses section of our website.

Minimum entry requirements for PLC courses

  • For QQI Level 5 – Leaving Cert standard or equivalent certification
  • For QQI Level 6 courses – Full QQI level 5 certificate or equivalent certification

Specific entry requirements

In addition to the above, the course you are applying for may require you to pass an audition, a portfolio review or similar as part of the application process.

Applicants to courses that have specific entry requirements will be notified about this.
Places are offered on a first come, first served basis. This offer is also subject to places being available and the course forming.


STEP 3: You accept the offer of a provisional place and pay a deposit to secure place 

You can accept the offer of a provisional place and secure that place by paying a €50 deposit online.
To pay your deposit online, please click on the login button below. This will take you to the login page of the college applications system. Your login details are on the email we sent you. After log in, select the Payments tab to see the breakdown of course fees and to pay your deposit.

If you do not wish to pay a €50 deposit at this step, you can still confirm that you are accepting our offer by emailing enquiries@inchicore.cdetb.ie and pay your deposit later.

STEP 4: You complete registration & upload your documents

To complete registration for your course, in the college applications system, please select the DOCUMENTS tab and upload a copy of some or all of the following documents:

  • Photo ID (Passport, PSC card, Driver’s Licence, National Age Card, GNIB card) to confirm your identity
  • For school leavers, a copy of your Leaving Certificate Results when you receive them (LC results day: 3rd September 2021)
  • For all other applicants a Statement of Results from your most recent academic course and/or for mature applicants a personal statement outlining your life / work experience.
  • Non-EU applicants, upload GNIB card (Stamp 4) or a Labour Market Permission letter.

It is important that you commence the registration process for your course as soon as possible. You can upload any documents as soon as you have them.

PHOTO FOR YOUR ICFE STUDENT CARD

  • To upload a photo for your ICFE student card, in the college applications system, select the PERSONAL tab. You can upload your photo there. Your photo should be recently taken and of a suitable passport-style.

STEP 5: You pay your fees online

To pay course fees, in the college applications system, please select the PAYMENTS tab. You will see the breakdown of your course fees. Please pay your deposit and other fees there.

Your fees will be broken down into the following elements:

  • Deposit (Registration) Fee
  • Student Services and PLC Charges
  • Government Levy
  • Exam Fee

Possible Fee Exemptions 

You may be exempt from paying some elements of your fees if you satisfy one of the following criteria:

  • You hold a full medical card in your own right (exempt from Govt Levy & QQI Exam fee)*
  • You are the dependent child of a full medical card holder (exempt from Govt Levy & QQI Exam fee)*
  • You are eligible for a student grant from SUSI (letter from SUSI required) (exempt from Govt Levy)*
  • You are getting Back to Education Allowance (letter from DEASP required) (exempt from Govt Levy)*
  • You are getting a VTOS allowance  (exempt from all fees)

Please upload any documentation to prove you have an exemption, otherwise you will be required to pay these elements of your fees and then seek a refund at a later date. *All other fees are not exempt and must be paid. Fees should be paid by Wednesday 1st October 2021.

If an external agency is paying your fees, please notify our Main Office.

STEP 6: Induction

Course inductions take place during the week of Monday 20 September 2021 

At ICFE we are committed to you having a successful transition into this college and your induction, which takes place on the week of 20 September, is the first important step.

At your induction, you will meet your Course Director, other college staff and your fellow students. You will receive lots of useful information (including your timetable) about your course and the college. Some of your induction will be online and some will be in the college buildings.

We will notify you about the exact date, time and location of your induction.


STEP 7: Start classes

Your classes are due to start in the week of Monday 27th September 2021.

(We will notify you about the exact start date and location of your classes. It is likely that some of your classes will take place online and some will take place in the college buildings.)
