Applying to Inchicore College of Further Education
STEP 1: You apply online
You apply online through our website. You can apply at any time.
When you complete your application, you will receive an acknowledgement email with login details, username and password, for your new account on our college applications system, MIT. You will log into the college applications system regularly to manage your application to ICFE. If you have any problems logging in please contact our Admissions office at enquiries@inchicore.cdetb.ie
Can’t decide which course? Our system only allows you to apply once, but you can change your mind any time. If you are interested in applying for more than one course, please contact jane.brennan@inchicore.cdetb.ie and she will help you with this process.
STEP 2: We offer you a provisional place* on the course
* This offer is subject to you satisfying the entry requirements for the course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Information on entry requirements for each course is available in the courses section of our website.
In general, minimum entry requirements for PLC courses are:
- For QQI Level 5 – Leaving Cert standard or equivalent certification
- For QQI Level 6 courses – Full QQI level 5 certificate or equivalent certification
In addition to the above, the course you are applying for may have specific entry requirements e.g. to pass an audition, a portfolio review or similar as part of the application process.
Applicants to courses that have specific entry requirements will be contacted directly about how to fulfil the additional requirements.
Places are offered on a first come, first served basis. This offer is also subject to places being available and the course forming.
STEP 3: You accept the offer of a provisional place and pay a deposit to secure place
You can accept the offer of a provisional place and secure that place by paying a €50 deposit online.
To pay your deposit online, please click on the login button below. This will take you to the login page of the college applications system. Your login details are on the email we sent you. After log in, select the Payments tab to see the breakdown of course fees and to pay your deposit.
If you are a mature student i.e. over 21 and in receipt of Social Welfare for over 6 months, you may be eligible for VTOS. This means that you can keep your social welfare payments and have no course charges. For further information please contact inchicore.vtos@inchicore.cdetb.ie as soon as possible.
STEP 4: You register for your course
To register for your course, please Login to your account, select the DOCUMENTS tab and upload a copy of some or all of the following documents:
- Photo ID (E.G. Passport, PSC card, Driver’s Licence, National Age Card, GNIB card) to confirm your identity.
- For school leavers, a copy of your Leaving Certificate Exam Results when you receive them.
- For all other applicants a Statement of Results from your most recent academic course.
- Non-EU applicants, upload GNIB card (Stamp 4) or a Labour Market Permission letter.
Please go to the UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPH icon that appears when you log in to your account. Please do not upload your student card photo as a document. Your photo should be recently taken and of a suitable passport-style. The photograph you upload will be printed directly from your application account to your student card. It is your responsibility to ensure it is suitable for your student card.
STEP 5: You pay your course charges online
We will contact you in Summer 2023 to invite you to complete the registration process by paying your fees. There are no fees for tuition, however there are course charges. These charges exist to cover the costs of the following items: books, some equipment, uniforms/clothing, student services, examination fees and registration charges by professional bodies.
You may be exempt from paying QQI Exam Fees if you satisfy one of the following criteria:
- You hold a full medical card in your own right
- You are the dependent child of a full medical card holder
You are required to upload a valid medical card to prove you have this exemption.
STEP 6: Induction
Course Inductions will take place in September 2023. We will notify you about the exact date, time and location of your induction via text and email. Induction sessions usually take approximately two hours.
At ICFE we are committed to you having a successful transition into this college and your induction is the first important step.
At your induction, you will meet your course coordinator, other college staff and your fellow students. You will receive lots of useful information (including your timetable) about your course and the college.
STEP 7: Start classes
Your exact start date will be confirmed by your Course Coordinator at induction.
