About The Course

1 Year Full Time Childcare: Advanced Certificate in Early Learning and Care Stage 2 Course
QQI Level 6

This course enables you to develop the knowledge, skills and competence to work as autonomous practitioners, subject to practice supervision, promoting and supporting the holistic needs of children 0-6 years.

Training on this course qualifies you to take responsibility for a room or area in the early learning and care setting and more supervision responsibilities. This award also affords you the opportunity to progress to higher education.

Professional Practice Placement

The Professional Practice Placement must be passed in each year. You will complete 150 hours of Professional Practice Placement in each year in a minimum of two settings.

Garda Vetting is required for Professional Practice Placement and all of our Early Learning and Care settings are registered with TUSLA.

Progression Opportunities

Upon qualification you may seek work in a range of settings including Créches, community-based projects and private providers. Stage 2 graduates are eligible to apply for Advanced Entry in HEIs, including:

  • Early Childhood Teaching and Learning BA Level 8 Maynooth University
  • Early Childhood Care and Education BA Level 8 Technological University Dublin
