About The Course

1 Year Full Time Childcare: Advanced Certificate in Early Learning and Care Stage 2 Course
QQI Level 6

The aim of this programme is to enable learners to develop the knowledge, skills and competence to work as autonomous practitioners, subject to practice supervision, promoting and supporting the holistic needs of children 0-6 years, and/or to take responsibility for a room or area in the early learning and care setting. This award also provides the learner with the opportunity to progress into further and higher education and training.

Our very experienced and highly committed teachers who deliver this course pride themselves on offering a very student-centred approach to the teaching methods used. We support you in building on the knowledge and skills you have acquired in the Certificate in Early Learning and Care Stage 1.

Professional Practice Placement

Learners must pass the professional practice placement elements in each year.
Learners must complete 150 hours of professional practice placement in each year in a minimum of two settings. Learners must be Garda vetted before going on professional practice placement.

Everyone is Garda Vetted before going on Professional Practice Placement and all of our
Early Learning and Care settings are registered with TUSLA.

Applicant Information Meeting

All applicants will be invited to an Applicant Information Meeting.

Progression and Career Prospects

Graduates work in a range of settings upon qualifying from this course including Créches, community based projects and private providers.

Stage 2 graduates are eligible to apply for Advanced Entry in HEIs, including:

  • Early Childhood Teaching and Learning BA Level 8 Maynooth University
  • Early Childhood Care and Education BA Level 8 Technological University Dublin
