Theatre Studies: Performance - Level 5

Theatre Studies: Performance – Level 5

1 Year Full Time Theatre Studies Course
QQI Level 5

A dynamic and  empowering approach to acting and musical theatre training for all students interested in a career in professional theatre, film and  television.

About The Course

The Theatre Performance course has been providing excellence in drama training for over 30 years. The acting courses at Inchicore College are designed to provide a dynamic and empowering approach to acting and musical theatre training for all students interested in a career in professional theatre, film and television. The courses are delivered by a dedicated and experienced team of tutors who are all active theatre practitioners.

Our students perform regularly in studio presentations as well as mainstage productions. This vocational aspect of the course allows the student to develop their skills and confidence through experience in live performance.

The Level 5 students work collaboratively with their director Helene Montague and a commissioned writer on a devised piece as their mainstage production.

Past writers have included Lucy Montague Moffat (Fair City, Emmerdale), Lee Coffey, founder of Bitter Like A Lemon Theatre Company and writer of the award winning Murder of Crows and In Our Veins (for the Abbey Theatre), Shaun Dunne and Ciara Elizabeth Smith.

Students also present a studio production of a Chekhov play under the direction of Paul Meade ( Artistic Director of Gúna Núa Theatre Company).

In order to further develop the students’ performance skills and as a part of continuous assessment, class presentations are a regular part of each module.

Graduate Profile

Michele Ann Kelly

“The atmosphere in the college was relaxed and friendly, and the faculty and extended members of staff were open and supportive throughout my time at ICFE. The subjects on the course gave me a solid grounding in the history of drama which was complemented by the practical (hands-on) learning across acting for theatre and film, script writing and devising for theatre as well as directing techniques.

I completed my diploma with distinctions at ICFE and in August of that same year I began a Master’s Degree in Drama and Theatre Studies at the National University of Ireland, Galway. I have since established a theatre company with NUIG colleagues.”
