Sports Coaching – Fitness Instructor Level 5
Our coaching awards in GAA and Soccer, along with our extensive work experience programme, will give you the confidence needed to succeed in this industry.
Do you want a job in the fitness industry? Enrolling on this one-year course could be the first step towards achieving that goal.
During this course, the student will have an option to enrol on an industry standard qualification, awarded by ITEC. Students also have the opportunity to gain valuable sports coaching awards with the FAI and the GAA.
Students typically spend four days a week in college, where the theory and practical elements of the course are covered with students receiving extensive training in instruction techniques. On the fifth day, the student will be based in an industry setting such as a gym or leisure centres.
Students are encouraged to participate in college sports activities which are generally held on Wednesday afternoons.

The ITEC Personal Trainer Award is completed in year 2 on the Level 6 course.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 5 subjects
or Leaving Certificate Applied
or QQI Level 4
Equivalent qualifications will be accepted
Mature applicants who have relevant industry experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.
Applicant Information Meeting
All applicants will be invited to an Applicant Information Meeting.
Sports Coaching (Personal Trainer) Level 6 at Inchicore College.
This route will give students the opportunity to achieve the valuable ITEC Personal Trainer Award as well as QQI Level 6 Award in Sport, Recreation and Exercise.
Students may also progress to the Higher National Diplomas in Sport that are offered at Inchicore College of Further Education.
Students may also avail of the Higher Education Links Scheme to access courses in many Institutes of Technology and Universities.
