Duration: 8 weeks (No class on 13.02.24)
Fee: €85 (It is CDETB policy that refunds are only issued if a course does not form. Before booking, please see our terms and conditions page).
Notes: Pen and paper/ tablet, if you wish to take some notes. All courses are subject to a minimum number in order to proceed. In the event that a course is oversubscribed, places will be offered on a first-booked, first-served basis and a waiting list will then be created.

Description

This Spanish for beginners class will get your language skills up to speed for when you do book that holiday away. Think about how wonderful it would be to sit outside, on a balmy evening in Barcelona, and be able to confidently read the menu, order some amazing paella, and have a laugh with the locals.

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

-Greet and say goodbye, Introduce someone, Identify people, places and objects, Describe people, places, objects and moods, Compare people, objects, places, situations and actions, Express reasons for studying Spanish, Give simple instructions, Express and ask for opinions, Express agreement and disagreement, Talking about likes, preferences and hobbies, Use Spanish in the shops, Order food in bars and restaurants, Talk about daily life (Routines), Answer a phone call, Make a phone call

GRAMMAR:

Alphabet and Pronunciation, Intonation patterns (enunciative, negative and interrogative), Accent and rhythm. Syllabic division, Use of uppercase and lowercase letters, Recognition and transcription of the main punctuation marks, Nouns, Gender rules/differentiation by ending. Most frequent special cases. The gender of nouns referring to persons (profession, kinship, etc.), Formation of plurals, Concordance, Article, Morphology. Contraction, General uses of the definite and indefinite article, Presence and absence: general rules. Most frequent special cases: in treatments; with temporal markers; with “hay/ está”.

COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS:

-Distinctive elements of oral and written communication. Formal, standard, informal (Level A1/A2)

SPANISH CULTURE:

Daily life: work and leisure activities, Living conditions: standards and quality of life, Personal relationships: social structure, family structure and relationships, intergenerational relationships, Values, beliefs and attitudes: professional groups, regional cultures, national identity, politics, the arts, wealth, income and inheritance, humor, Body language, Social conventions: conventions and taboos regarding behavior and conversations, Ritual behavior in areas such as: family

Fun activities will make this a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Your tutor is a native Spanish speaker and she is looking forward to helping you gain confidence with this beautiful language.

About your tutor: Clara Díaz

Clara is an experienced Spanish language teacher. Originally from Seville, Spain, she has taught Spanish as a second language to people from all over the world and from teen to adult. She believes that the best way to learn a language is to have fun and speak it often. She will create a safe and fun environment so that you can feel confident as you work on your speaking and listening skills. We know that those plane tickets will be booked by the time you have finished this course!
