The health and wellness industry encompasses all activities which promote physical and mental well-being.
Do you see yourself working in the health and wellness industry? Are you interested in the area of lifestyle coaching? Do you have a passion for healthy living, physical activity, and nutrition? Are you interested in yoga and pilates as a way of incorporating relaxation and physical conditioning to your life?
This certificate course will teach the student about, health, nutrition, exercise, and holistic well being. It will enable the learner to make real changes to their own lives and the lives of others.
By completing this course you will learn how to support, and empower individuals in the area of lifestyle and wellness, and develop the skills to advise specific groups in the community to change lifetime habits thus improving well being, health and nutritional habits.
The Lifestyle and Wellness Industry
The area of employment in health and wellness is constantly expanding. It is an industry worth 4.2 trillion to the world economy and it is still growing. The health and wellness industry encompasses all activities which promote physical and mental well being, from yoga to healthy eating, personal care, beauty, weight loss, meditation and workplace wellness.
75% of large employers and 33% of small companies run wellness programmes. Within the spa sector the medical wellness segment is the fastest growing. Healthcare companies have opened medical and wellness clinics.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 4 subjects plus at least one O2/H6.
Subjects must include English.
or QQI Level 5 Award with a Merit profile in a related discipline.
Equivalent qualifications will be considered as part of the application.
Mature applicants who have relevant industry experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.
All applicants will be interviewed.
Graduates can be employed as a free- lance lifestyle advisor or obtain work in the corporate sector as a motivational speaker or health advisor.
Graduates can provide workshops work- ing with the local health centre or sports centres or work in day spas or wellness centres.
Graduates may seek to go on to do further study in the area of health science and nutrition.
