About the Course
Become a qualified Healthcare Assistant (HCA) with a special focus on care of the older person. There is increasing demand for qualified HCAs to work on the frontline in hospitals, dementia care, and hospices, or caring for vulnerable people in their homes and in residential settings.
With this professional qualification you will gain the skills, knowledge and valuable work experience to create a pathway to employment for you.
About the Course
Qualify to work as a HCA on our unique and highly regarded Disability Support course which prepares you to work in any healthcare environment including community homes for independent living, nursing homes and daily respite centres for people with a disability.
The study of Intellectual Disability Studies will prepare you to work with people with general learning difficulties and their daily adaptive needs.

Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 5 subjects.
or Leaving Certificate Applied.

Mature applicants who have relevant industry experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.
Progression Opportunities
Successful graduates may progress to QQI Level 6 Healthcare Supervisory Management or BTEC Social Care Diploma courses at Inchicore College.
QQI 5M4339 Healthcare Support major award leads to many CAO courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme including TUD Social Care and Applied Social Studies in Social Care.
