Week 2: 21.10.24: brew day
(no class on 28.10.24)

Week 3: 04.11.24:  bottling day
Week 4: 11.11.24:  brewery trip
Week 5: 18.11.24: Theory day

Week 6: 25.11.24: Beer opening day

Course fee: €85 Materials and brewery visit fee: €20 (payable in class to tutor on the first night of the course). (It is CDETB policy that refunds are only issued if a course does not form. Before booking, please see our terms and conditions page).
Notes: This is a six week course. All courses are subject to a minimum number in order to proceed. In the event that a course is oversubscribed, places will be offered on a first-booked, first-served basis and a waiting list will then be created.
This course is for over 18’s only.

Description

Craft beer has been having a moment for the last couple of years and this course is the best way for you to get hands-on experience in the craft of brewing your own beer. This course is spread out over eight weeks to allow your beer to brew to perfection. It will be worth the wait…think of the satisfaction of tasting your own beer in that last class and then being able to take those skills home with you.

Week 1 will introduce you to the basics or brewing and all its terminology. Week 2 is “brew day”. A hands on, up close experience that will leave you buzzing and longing for the final week. However, there’s more to do. Week three will be bottling day. Week four is a visit to a local brewery to see the pros in action. More details about this will be given at the start of the course. Week five focuses on the technical elements again by looking at ingredients, equipment, and technique in more detail. Week 6 is is your sixth and final class where you all get to sit back taste your masterpieces, compare, make notes, and taste again…because why wouldn’t you?

About your tutor: Des Feeney

Des Feeney is an avid and experienced home brewer of craft beers. He has been brewing quality beers for the last decade and he has been awarded gold medals for his beers at the Irish National Homebrewing Competition. Des tutors others regularly on the craft of home beer brewing and he is in demand for his brewing demonstrations at corporate events. Des will set you on the path to beer brewing greatness!
