Notes: This is a six week course that will be undertaken over an eight-week period to facilitate the time required for brewing your craft beer. All courses are subject to a minimum number in order to proceed. In the event that a course is oversubscribed, places will be offered on a first-booked, first-served basis and a waiting list will then be created.
This course is for over 18’s only.
Craft beer has been having a moment for the last couple of years and this course is the best way for you to get hands-on experience in the craft of brewing your own beer. This course is spread out over eight weeks to allow your beer to brew to perfection. It will be worth the wait…think of the satisfaction of tasting your own beer in that last class and then being able to take those skills home with you.
Week 1 will introduce you to the basics or brewing and all its terminology. Week 2 is “brew day”. A hands on, up close experience that will leave you buzzing and longing for the final week. However, there’s more to do. Week three will be a visit to a local brewery to see the pros in action. More details about this will be given at the start of the course. Then you will have a rest week. Week four focuses on the technical elements again by looking at ingredients, equipment, and technique in more detail. Week 5 is bottling and packaging your beer and then the beer (and maybe you) will require another week of rest. This will lead up to your sixth and final class where you all get to sit back taste your masterpieces, compare, make notes, and taste again…because why wouldn’t you?
