Monday: Creative writing for beginners and improvers
Time: 6.30-8.30pm
Start: 12.01.2026
Duration: 8 weeks (no classes 2nd & 16th February).
Fee: €120 euro (It is CDETB policy that refunds are only issued if a course does not form. Before booking, please see our terms and conditions page).
Notes: If it’s your preference, please bring notebook/pen or personal tablet/laptop. All courses are subject to a minimum number in order to proceed. In the event that a course is oversubscribed, places will be offered on a first-booked, first-served basis and a waiting list will then be created. You will be contacted in this event.

Want to start writing or get back to the page in 2026? Join our Creative Writing Kickstart for 8-weeks of practical and thought-provoking exercises to generate new writing or support your work-in-progress.
This will be a friendly and supportive writing community comprising:
- prompts and exercises
- recommended reads (short stories, flash, poetry, etc, emailed in advance)
- lively group discussions
- sharing of work and supportive feedback (optional)
- homework to motivate your writing in between sessions (optional)
- Participants will create new work and ideas, and develop a personal writing project to continue after the course.

About your tutor: Fiona O’Rourke

Fiona O’Rourke’s short stories, autofiction, and essays have been published in journals, anthologies, and broadcast on radio. She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2023 and her début novel was a winner at the Irish Novel Fair in 2016. Since earning an MPhil in Creative Writing at Trinity College Dublin, she has facilitated creative writing courses for the Irish Writers Centre, libraries, and festivals.
