My portfolio project started with me looking at pomegranates as a subject. The reason I decided to base my portfolio on pomegranates was the colour, because of how bright and red the seeds looked and how rich and juicy the fruit looked on the inside.
My first task was to record the pomegranate through observational drawing. I looked into the little details of the pomegranate and sketched it out differently to make it look more interesting and unique.
I developed my drawing into ideas for patterns where I took the shapes I had been drawing and simplified them into motifs that could be developed into repeating patterns. I also experimented with various colour combinations. I also experimented with collage techniques using fabrics to look at the shapes and textures of the fruit.
