Staff Biographies

Roisin Flood -Course Director 

Roisin is a graduate of Rose Bruford College, London. and holds an M.A. in Drama Studies from U.C.D. An experienced actress, she has performed in theatres in Ireland the U.K and Canada. As a broadcaster she has worked for the B.B.C., London, the World Service, and R.T.E. Roisin has been involved in education at all levels including A-Level Theatre Studies and 3rd level Drama. At Inchicore College she teaches Acting and the Stanislavsi Technique. Roisin has conducted workshops in Corporate Training. 

Sharon O’Doherty 

Sharon studied with the renowned Mime artist Marcel Marceau for three years at his school in Paris. On finishing her training she became a member of Anne Sicco’s mimodrame company ‘Theatre De La Sphere’ which toured Europe extensively with various productions for a number of years. Since returning to Ireland Sharon has appeared on stage and on screen in a variety of text and movement pieces, classic and modern. As well as acting Sharon works as a director/devisor, choreographer, fight director and workshop facilitator. Sharon is also a member of VeniziainScena International Commedia dell ‘Arte Company based in Venice, with whom she performs regularly.

Derek Chapman

Voice and Dialect Tutor on Theatre Studies: Acting course at Inchicore College. Also Director of Shakespeare and of Expressionist Theatre Modules. 

First Class Honours Degree in Drama and Phonetics from Trinity College Dublin - Mod. Lang (II i) B.A. Mod. 

Voice Tutor - Kate Fleming (who taught Cicely Berry of ‘The Voice and the Actor’ fame). 

Dialect Tutor - Joan Washington - Dialect Coach at R.A.D.A., The Royal National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and The Royal Court. Also Dialect Coach to major British film and television productions. 

Personal credits include acting, directing and writing for all the major theatres in Ireland. A member of the long-standing Abbey Theatre Company, before its demise in the late 1980’s, Derek applied his knowledge of the Abbey’s ensemble acting to his own Theatre Company, Smock Alley. That decade saw Smock Alley perform all over this country, at the Edinburgh Festival, in Jim Sheridan’s theatre in New York and nation-wide throughout Japan.

His directing and acting association with the Gate Theatre straddles both of the colossi - MacLiammoir/Edwards and Michael Colgan - Equus, The Elephant Man, Amadeus, Salome, The Beckett Festival. And at The National Theatre of Ireland - the Abbey - he directed and performed over a five year period in the world renowned International Yeats’ Festivals. 

On account of his many years’ experience in operas, musicals and in pantomime, Inchicore College has inaugurated a Diploma Course in Musical Theatre, concurrent with the Performance Diploma in Drama, which he runs with Stephanie Elliott and Helene Montague. 

Derek is also a member of the Vocal Faculty of the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

Helene Montague

Helene Montague has been working in professional theatre in Dublin for over 25 years. She is a founder member of Rough Magic Theatre Co. and has been involved in many of their productions. She has worked in all the major theatres in Dublin and has toured extensively as an actress, musical director, composer and director. She is currently the Singing and Musical Theatre tutor in Inchicore College of Further Education as part of the Theatre Studies: Acting course. She has recently written the music for a production of ‘The Recruiting Officer’ for the Abbey Theatre.

Marian Lennon
R.A.D. Teaching Dip. C.D.E. I.S.T.D.  P.E.A. N.C.E.F. Rommett Certificate

Marian has had a versatile career in Theatre, Cabaret, Television, and Film, working in Ireland and touring extensively throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Marian worked as an exercise consultant for Unislim and trained aerobic teachers for the Dance Institute in Athens. She returned to Ireland and completed her training as a Classical Ballet Teacher at the National Academy of Dancing and the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Marian also holds the PEAI Certificate in Exercise and Health Studies and the National Certificate in Exercise and Fitness. Marian is a certified Rommet floor barre teacher and is a tutor for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Marian is the Course Director of the Dance Studies Course at Inchicore College of Further Education. She runs her own Ballet School in Blanchardstown, and is Head of Ballet for the National Performing Arts School.

Mark Lambert

Mark Lambert has worked as guest director on Inchicore College of Further Education productions since 2005. Mark has appeared in numerous productions for the Abbey and Peacock Theatres, including: Ariel, The Gigli Concert, Barbaric Comedies (for which he received an Irish Times/ESB nomination), The Patrick Pearse Motel and Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching towards the Somme.  

Other Theatre credits include The Three Sisters, A Month in the Country for the Gate Theatre, Our Country’s Good, The Recruiting Officer for the Royal Court Theatre Company, Dancing at Lughnasa for Phoenix Theatre, Juno and the Paycock for the Albery Theatre for which he was nonimated for an Oliver Award for his Joxer, Long Day’s Journey into Night for the Young Vic Theatre and The Memory of Water for Vaudeville Theatre, London, which won the Oliver Award for Best Production. 

Television Credits inlcude Cracker, Frost, Fair City, Casualty, and The Tudors. Film credits include Veronica Guerin, A Prayer for the Dying and Borstal Boy. Directing credits include Samuel Beckett’s Engame for Prime Cut Theatre Company, The Grapes of Wrath for Storytellers, The Memory of Water and The Hunt for Red Willie at the Peacock Theatre and Lovers at Versailles for the Abbey Theatre. He appeared in Bloody Sunday for Channel 4 and No Tears for R.T.E. 

Stephanie Elliott

Stephanie Elliott trained with the Irish National Ballet. As a dancer Stephanie has performed in all major theatres in Dublin and fulfilledevery dancer’s ambition by appearing in West Side Story in the Shaftsbury Theatre in London’s West End. She has choreographed Gaiety Pantomimes and many musicals. She worked extensively in R.T.E. and the B.B.C. and a performer and choreographer. She was Assistant Director with Riverdance which took her all around the world.
