Technical Theatre Diploma in Lighting, Sound and Stage Management Level 5 and 6+
This course should appeal to those who are interested in backstage work, stage management, lighting, sound or construction.
If you love the technical elements of theatre then this two-year Higher National Diploma course is for you. It will provide you with the skills and experience necessary for employment in professional theatre in stage management, lighting, sound or set design and construction.
This HND in Stage Management provides students with the opportunity to specialise in one of three major areas:
You will gain practical experience and skills by supporting the College’s performance and dance productions. Work experience and professional placements are arranged, as appropriate, for secondyear students.
Course assessment is by project work, continual assessment and examinations. Students work as part of a team and the emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of the course.
Course content may be revised for educational or organisational reasons.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 4 subjects plus at least one O2/H6. Subjects must include English.
QQI Level 5 Award in a related discipline with a Merit profile.
Mature applicants who have relevant experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.

Graduates of this course have been very successful in gaining employment in the theatre and performance industries as stage managers, lighting and sound technicians and set designers. Graduates of Stagecraft at Inchicore College have gone on to study at Trinity College, IADT and have also used their Higher National Diploma to gain access to advanced entry to degree programmes in the UK in colleges such as Rose Bruford and LIPA.
Students engage in on-site work experience in the sound, light and stage management of events and productions within the college.
The students collaborate with the Dance, Theatre Performance and Costume Deisgn Departments to work on a number of large scale producions within the college and in city venues.
Technical Theatre students also provide technical support to college based cultural activities and events during the college year.
Since graduating from ICFE Lisa Krugel has been working as freelance Stage Designer, Lighting Designer/ Technician. Some recent design work includes: The Hunt For Red Willie (Exit Excitedly),The Watchman (Dublin Theatre Company), La Traviata (Glasthule Opera Festival), Love In Dublin (Fire and Ice Theatre Co. / Focus Theatre), Reunion (The New Theatre).
Lisa also continues to work as Lighting Designer/ Technician on such productions as Amour (PlayActing Theatre Productions and as Stage Manager with companies such as Classic Stage Ireland, Rose Upon The Rood, Dancemasters, The New Theatre, The Abbey School of Music and Drama, Bluepatch, Idir Mná, and Marsha Hunt.
She greatly enjoys her work and is grateful for the opportunities, inspiration and encouragement she has gained from her tutors and colleagues at ICFE.
