This innovative, new healthcare course has been developed in direct response to the growing need for skilled dementia care practitioners. This course will prepare you for work in this specialist area providing you with the practical skills necessary.
At Inchicore College our healthcare team has the expert knowledge and industry experience to help you gain the required expertise necessary to work in nursing homes, day-care settings and in-home care. Work experience is an essential component of this course.
The population in Ireland is changing with growing numbers of dependent older people and people with disabilities. According to the HSE Planning for Care (2017) demand across all health and social care sectors will “increase substantially” every year up to 2030.
At Inchicore College, we have developed our Healthcare courses in response to these changing needs. A career in this field is highly rewarding but requires dedication and commitment.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 5 subjects.
Leaving Certificate Applied.
QQI Level 4.
Equivalent qualifications will be accepted
Mature applicants who have relevant industry experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.
All applicants will be interviewed.
Successful graduates may gain entry to any related QQI Level 6 or BTEC Higher National Diploma course. Graduates may also use their Level 5 award to apply for relevant degree courses in health and social care.
Graduates from this course may gain employment as healthcare assistants in dementia specific settings as healthcare assistants in hospitals, nursing homes, day care centres and home care.
