Qualifications Framework

This
course aims to give students a thorough knowledge of all
aspects and styles of dance, providing them with the
opportunity of attaining qualifications in both the Royal
Academy of Dance and The Imperial Society of Teachers of
Dancing.
This course is a full-time course covering a wide range of dance subjects including Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Modern Dance, History, Anatomy, Kinesiology, Music Theory and Psychology. Students will be encouraged to take examinations in the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Modern syllabi, provided they meet the conditions laid down by the Examining Associations.
Assessments and examinations will form the basis of the FETAC Award in Performance Arts: Dance.

Applicants to the course must be of Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent. Admittance to the course is by interview and audition.
The course is also open to VTOS applications. LCA is also
acceptable.
Dance Requirements
It is desirable that applicants for this course should be of Intermediate
standard in classical ballet. However, natural talent and a basis in other Dance
genre will be taken into account at the audition.
The Royal Academy of Dance Examinations and Imperial Society of Teachers of
Dancing examinations will be examined by the relevant organisation.
